As I've said before, Yerevan is a pretty cosmopolitan city. It even has three Chinese restaurants...one of which we experienced-Lotus. You walk in through the door and are greeted by an Asian woman dressed in full on traditional qipao-she greets you with a "Barev Dzez." It's very disorienting.
The decor is over the top Chinese with lots of red, gold, and black lacquer. They even had a large string of Chinese firecrackers hanging on the walls. I wonder if that's a violation of the fire code. Does Armenia even have a fire code? But I digress....
The food was surprisingly good. We ordered a variety of different things but the best was definitely the squid salad (good call Armen). Squid salad in Armenia?? Which was actually good. I guess stranger things have happened.
If you find yourself in Yerevan, craving Chinese food, Lotus is your fix.
